New Sony Honami Mini image and details leak

A new image of the Sony Xperia 'Honami' Mini has leaked. The smartphone is shown next to the BlackBerry Q10, revealing how small the handset will be.

Sony will be holding a press event on September 4 and the company is widely expected to announce the Xperia i1 'Honami' along with a smaller version of Sony's latest flagship smartphone. The 'Honami' Mini is a direct response to both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and the HTC One Mini. Unlike those smartphones, sources have indicated that Sony plans on shipping the 'Honami' Mini with high-end specs that are very similar to its larger counterpart.  Samsung and HTC have both marketed their "Mini" smartphones as smaller iterations of their flagship models, but both contain mid-range specs. Sony's approach brings the benefits of the "mini" size with no tradeoffs.

A new image of the Xperia 'Honami' Mini and its dimensions has now popped up on XDA and it shows the smartphone next to the BlackBerry Q10. The handset will have a very petite size, as it will reportedly be 57.88mm wide and 109.24mm tall. As you can see in the image above, the already small BlackBerry Q10 is substantially larger than Sony's offering. The BlackBerry Q10 is packing a 3.1-inch display, while Sony's Xperia 'Honami' Mini is using a 4.3-inch display, yet the larger screen size still allows the handset to be smaller than the Q10.

The Sony Xperia 'Honami' Mini will feature a 4.3-inch 720p TRILUMINOS display. It will also keep the Snapdragon 800 processor and feature the same high-end 20.7-megapixel camera with F/2.0 Sony G Lens from the Xperia i1 'Honami'. The smartphone will reportedly include 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, and also a microSD expansion slot for expandable memory. The Honami Mini will reportedly use a non-removable 2,400 mAh battery. It's not clear at this point if the smartphone will be waterproof and dust-resistant like Sony's current smartphones and tablets.

As with all rumors, take this one with a grain of salt. We should know all the specifics on the handset come September 4.
