TikTok and BeReal maintain spots in the top 10 ranking on the Apple App Store for iPhone users.

On the other hand, the Mark Zukerberg social network, Facebook, has been booted out of the top 10 list several times this 2022.

Facebook vs. TikTok, BeReal

As per a news story by Tech Crunch, the once most popular social media platform, Facebook, is now struggling to keep up with the phenomenal popularity of its newer rivals like TikTok and BeReal.

The news outlet points out that younger folks now prefer to spend their time on more recent options like TikTok and the newly debuted BeReal.

And as such, the giant social media network of Meta has been slipping out of the top 10 most popular apps on the Apple App Store, the official app marketplace for millions of iPhone users.

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, teens in the United States are spending less time doom scrolling on Facebook.

In fact, last March 2021, the "time spent" by young adults and teens declined by roughly 5% and 16%, respectively. Not to mention that the number of new teen users is going down as well.

On the other hand, the new social media in town, BeReal, which debuted last January 2020, is climbing to unprecedented popularity.

A recent article from The Verge reports that BeReal made it to the first spot on the Apple App Store last July, boasting more than 20 million downloads.

NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 25: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg speaks about the new Facebook News feature at the Paley Center For Media on October 25, 2019 in New York City.

Back in 2021, Zuckerberg's social media slipped out of the top 10 free iPhone apps in the US a total of seven times.

Meanwhile, it left the top 10 ranking on the Apple App Store about six times in the first half of last year.

But this time, in the first half of 2022 alone, Facebook has already dropped out of the top 10 list a total of 59 times, the app intelligence firm Sensor Tower finds.

What's more, FB has been out of the top 10 ranking for more than a month or 37 days straight this 2022.

On top of that, Facebook also fell to the no. 44 ranking on the App Store last April 21, wherein the newcomer BeReal made its way to the top 5 list.
