Galaxy Gear Manager Android app screenshot leaked, adds new details of smartwatch's final specs

With only a few days before it's officially announced, new details have leaked regarding the Galaxy Gear smartwatch's specs, along with a screenshot of its 'Gear Manager' Android app.

Samsung will officially unveil both its next-generation Galaxy Note 3 phablet and its first smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, on September 4. As we get closer to the event you can be sure we'll be learning more and more about both devices. We've been covering leaks on both of the highly-anticipated devices and we've now got new information to report on the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

A new report from Amongtech claims to reveal the final specs of the Galaxy Gear. According to the site's sources who reportedly work at Samsung's warehouse in Texas, the Galaxy Gear will feature a 2.5-inch OLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 320 and will run Android Jelly Bean. The smartwatch will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and include a 6GB and 8GB model. It will include NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 LE to pair with a smartphone and have a built-in accelerometer. Samsung has included a 4-megapixel camera that can shoot 720p video and the watch strap will have built-in speakers. The sources also claim the Galaxy Gear will have 10 hours of battery life. It's not clear if that is 10 hours of continuous use with its display on, however. If not, that could be a major issue for consumers who are used to getting more than a full day of battery life on their smartphones.

The other major Galaxy Gear news comes from the reliable evleaks, who has posted the first screenshot of the Android app that will control different functions of the smartwatch via smartphone. The app is officially called "Gear Manager", and it gives the option of pairing your smartphone with the watch automatically using NFC or manually pairing via Bluetooth before you can tweak personal settings on the Galaxy Gear. The image also shows options for apps and settings, including Clocks, My Apps, Samsung Apps, Find my watch, Settings, and Help. That's all we are shown for now, but we'll definitely keep you updated as more details become available.
