Resident Evil Returns to Dead by Daylight with the Addition of Two Characters

Dead by Daylight's Project W chapter has more to offer than just new characters.

Behaviour Interactive has finally released the much-awaited Project W chapter, the latest crossover of its asymmetric survival horror multiplayer game with Capcom's Resident Evil franchise, with some additional content not previously revealed.

Dead By Daylight's Project W chapter is now available on the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation and Xbox Consoles, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia, per the game's official website.

Dead By Daylight Project W Additional Content Details

With the release of the Project W chapter in Dead by Daylight, players can now pick Resident Evil series antagonist Albert Wesker as their killer, or play as Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS) Bravo Team member Rebecca Chambers and the series femme fatale, Ada Wong.

However, Behaviour Interactive has hidden some additional content up its sleeves before the chapter's release. According to the game's official website, the new chapter also made Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service mercenary Carlos Oliveira and Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance special operations agent Sheva Alomar.

Resident Evil fans may remember that Carlos appeared in the original and remake versions of Resident Evil 3, while Sheva made her appearance in Resident Evil 5 as Chris' new partner following a tragic turn of events.

However, both characters are not standalone characters like Ada and Rebecca. They are instead "Legendary Cosmetics" for players to use on Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy.

To be specific, players choosing Jill can choose to play as Sheva instead, while those playing as Leon can swap him out for Carlos by equipping the necessary cosmetic, per Comibbook Gaming.

Jill and Leon aren't the only ones getting a Legendary Cosmetic. Killer players choosing The Legion can swap them out to play as the "Grim Reaper" of Resident Evil, HUNK.

Speaking of cosmetics, Behaviour Interactive also gave many of its characters, including Ada and Rebecca, new outfits to try out.

Wesker gets his old STARS uniform while Ada gets her undercover outfit from Resident Evil 2 Remake (RE2 Remake). Rebecca will get the cowgirl outfit that is also available in resident Evil 0.

Meanwhile, Leon will get the same noir outfit he had in RE2 Remake, and Jill gets to wear her old STARS uniform in the game.

Two of Dead by Daylight's original characters also get a new outfit. Feng Min gets to cosplay as Jill, while Felix Richter can wear a STARS uniform.

Bloody Disgusting mentioned in its article that these outfits are of the "Very Rare" tier.

Quality Of Life Improvements And Game Enhancements

Aside from new characters and cosmetics, the Project W chapter also comes with improvements to the game. Behaviour Interactive has reworked the Raccoon City Police Department map into two separate maps - the West Wing and the East Wing, with each version featuring a different arrangement of rooms.

Behaviour has also made navigating the police department easier with new entrances, wider corridors, and less extraneous rooms, which includes the library's second floor.

The game now has anonymous mode - a new feature that replaces players' usernames with the name of the character they're playing as both in the lobby and in-game when switched on.
