'Only Murders in the Building' Actor Nathan Lane Honored With Creative Emmy Award, To Return in Season 3?

The Hulu comedy-mystery series recently concluded its sophomore season.

The critically acclaimed Hulu series "Only Murders in the Building" has just added one more award to its collection through actor Nathan Lane, who plays Arconia resident Teddy Dimas, a deli chain owner and, spoiler alert, Will's biological father. Lane bagged the Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in Comedy Series in an episode from the show's first season titled "The Boy From 6B".

According to Collider, "The Boy From 6B" centered on Lane and his on-screen relationship with his deaf son, played by James Caverly, who is deaf in real life. The artfully executed episode was told from the point of view of Teddy, so most dialogue was inaudible and could only be understood by lip-reading or American Sign Language (ASL).

Nathan Lane Guest Stars in 'Only Murders in the Building'

Hulu's released the first three episodes of "Only Murders in the Building" on August 31, 2021, in which viewers got to know Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) as the three unlikely individuals and residents of the Arconia who become friends and podcasters as they try to unravel the mystery of the murder of Tim Kono, Mabel's friend.

Lane's Teddy is a Greek deli owner who agrees to sponsor the podcast aptly titled "Only Murders in the Building" and is later revealed to be a black market dealer that Tim was hunting down before his murder. Season 2 of the critically acclaimed series saw Lane's character remain a relevant guest in the series as it was revealed that he is in fact the biological father of Oliver's son.

'Only Murders in the Building' is Hulu's Critically Acclaimed Comedy-Mystery

Hulu's comedy-mystery series, in which Dan Fogelman serves as executive director, has earned several Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including one for the categories of Outstanding Comedy Series. Both Martin and Short are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series as well. Jane Lynch was also nominated for a Creative Arts Emmy Award in the category for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

In July, Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment president Craig Erwich announced that "Only Murders in the Building" has been renewed for a third season, describing the series as "the true crown jewel of our slate," Esquire reported. While production is yet to begin on the third season, fans of the Hulu series are now hoping to see more of Paul Rudd, who appears in the second season finale and (spoiler) immediately becomes the subject of the next murder to be solved.

Before Rudd's Ben Glenroy passes out on stage and in front of everybody however, Martin's Charles issues hi a warning to stay away from "her," another mystery yet to be solved when the third season of "Only Murders in the Building" roles around. TVLine theorizes that "her" can refer to anyone from Mabel to Lucy, or even the first season's big bad, Jan.

"Only Murders in the Building" is now streaming on Hulu.
