Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch nears: What to expect?

Samsung is all set to launch the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 3. Let's see what the phablet is expected to feature under the hood.

Sept. 4 has been penned down by many smartphone enthusiasts as the launch date of the Galaxy Note 3. Just like its predecessor, the handset is expected to pack in top-end features that will appeal to millions of customers worldwide.

Some rumors point out that the Galaxy Note 3 will sport a 5.7-inch OLED screen while others suggest that the handset will have a 5.9-inch OLED screen. The phablet is expected to have a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution.

The Galaxy Note 3 is rumored to come in two variants, one with a Snapdragon 800 processor and the other with Exynos 5 Octa-core processor. The handset is also speculated to have 2.5 GB of RAM. The device is expected to be equipped with a 13-megapixel primary camera. A 3,100mAh battery may fuel the handset.

The Galaxy Note 2 was available in 16/32/64GB internal storage options. But the Galaxy Note 3 may be available with only 32/64GB on-board storage. With the launch of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 is expected to come pre-loaded with the latest Jelly Bean flavor.

Recent reports suggest that the phablet will have fingerprint sensor to give additional security to its owners.

"A Samsung insider from Samsung R&D, India, confirms the existence of the fingerprint sensor on the Samsung Galaxy Note III. The insider also says that the Galaxy Note III will have a dual user mode which will use your fingerprint to open to your personal screen while an unknown fingerprint will allow the phone to open to the guest mode. Besides being a more secure way to unlock your phone, a fingerprint sensor will also make mobile payments safer," reports Phone Arena.

Recent reports also suggest that the Galaxy Note 3 will be available in the UK from Sept. 16 onwards. In the U.S., the unlocked version of the handset may be available for $800; however, individual carriers will announce their own pricing.

Just like the Galaxy S4, the company may initially launch the handset in two color variants and may introduce more colors in the near term. The phablet is said to borrow design aspects from the Galaxy S4 and may have the same plastic body.

We are just a few hours away from the launch of the Galaxy Note 3, so we will have to wait a bit more before the company officially takes the wraps off the phablet.
