Ted Lasso's Breaking Emmy Awards Record

Ted Lasso is a series streaming exclusively on Apple TV+ and is produced by Warner Bros.

The character of Ted Lasso was co-created by Sudeikis using a character that he had previously portrayed in a number of promotional spots for NBC Sports in 2013.

The character that Sudeikis plays is an upbeat coach of a college football team that is having difficulty winning games. The coach is recruited by the new owner of an English Premier League soccer club in an effort to undermine the team's overall success.

Another great win for the show is winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for MJ Delany for the episode called No Weddings and a Funeral, as reported by Apple Insider.

In the 74 years that this award show has been running, only seven shows have won in their debut season and then gone on to win again in subsequent seasons.

Ted Lasso is now a cast member of iconic and critically acclaimed television shows that have aired throughout the years, such as All in the Family, The Phil Silvers Show, The Golden Girls, 30 Rock, Modern Family, Frasier, and Cheers.
