Samsung confirms Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 in October

At its Unpacked event, Samsung revealed that the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4 will get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update in October.

The Korean smartphone maker has already started launching its new-generation devices with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, which includes the recently-launched Galaxy Note 3 and the refreshed version of the Galaxy Note 10.1.

Samsung introduced a number of devices at its Unpacked event on Sept. 4. Along with the much-awaited Galaxy Note 3, the company also launched the rumored Galaxy Gear watch, which can be integrated with the Galaxy Note 3. However, the company announced that users of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be able to integrate the device with their Galaxy S3 or Galaxy S4 in the near term.

"Android 4.3 is coming to the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S 4 in October along with the update that'll add Galaxy Gear functionality to the GS 4," reports Engadget.

Currently, only a handful of Android devices are running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, including the Google edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S3 runs on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system for now and previous reports suggested that it will skip the Android 4.2 version and will get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead.

The Galaxy S4, meanwhile, comes pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and users will hope that their handsets get the latest Jelly Bean flavor at the earliest.

The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update is expected to bring a number of software enhancements and new features to the smartphones and customers will be eagerly waiting for their handsets to get the latest Jelly Bean flavor. However it will also depend on individual carriers as to when they roll out the latest software update to their versions of the handsets.

With the launch of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch it seems that the next software update will also allow Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 users to pair their Galaxy devices. Samsung will have to release a software update for the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4 at the earliest, as customers won't buy the latest gadget if it cannot be connected to their handsets.

Unfortunately, some users will be disappointed as Samsung didn't disclose any information pertaining to a software update for the Galaxy Note 2.

We will have to wait until individual carriers start rolling out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to their Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4.
