YouTube TV Offers the Option to Subscribe to Certain Add-On Channels Minus the Base Plan

YouTube TV users now have the option to subscribe to certain add-on channels without needing the $65 Base Plan. There are 20 channels to choose from.

YouTube TV Offers Option to Subscribe to Standalone Add-On Channels

Those who are interested to the subscribe to certain YouTube TV add-on channels but are not interested to purchase the Base Plan may now do so. According to the a report by Engadget, YouTube follows the likes of Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV in offering this kind of option. 

There are 20 YouTube TV standalone channels you can choose from, which are as follows:

  • Cinemax
  • ConTV
  • CuriosityStream
  • Docurama
  • Dove
  • EPIX
  • Hallmark Movies Now
  • HBO Max
  • IFC Films Unlimited
  • Law & Crime
  • MLB.TV
  • NBA League Pass
  • Outside TV Features
  • Showtime
  • Shudder
  • STARZ
  • Sundance Now
  • VSiN

YouTube notes that you can add or remove any of these channels anytime you want. You will not be charged a cancellation fee whenever you do so.

YouTube also notes that you will no longer need to switch apps as they are all accessible in just one app. 

Can You Still Enjoy YouTube TV Features Without the Base Plan?

It is posisble to opt enjoy the features YouTube TV has even if you only opt to have the standalone channels. 

According to YouTube, users who wish to only purchase the standalone channels can still enjoy unlimited DVR space. This means you are able to record at no extra cost. 

You can also share the service with up to six accounts per household. YouTube notes that each member will get his or her profile as well as the unlimited DVR space. 

Last and certainly not the least, you can have three simultaneous streams as the service is available across different platforms, including desktop and mobile.

What is the Difference if You Opt for the Base Plan?

It goes without saying that opting for the base plan will include more channels than if you just go for standalone channels. In fact, YouTube TV offers more than 85 channels as part of its Base Plan. Channels that are part of the Base Plan include ABC, CBS, TNT, Univision, HGTV, and many more. 

You do not have to sign any annual contract and you are actually free to cancel whenever you want. You likewise get unlimited cloud DVR storage space as well as the capability to pause, rewind, and fast forward whatever you are watching. 

YouTube TV even offers a plan that contains Spanish-language channels only. The Spanish Plan, as it is called, costs $35 per month. Both the Base Plan and the Spanish Plan can accommodate up to six accounts per household as well.
