Sony Xperia Z1 Mini's image leaks once again

An image of the rumored Sony Xperia Z1 Mini has leaked online in a purple avatar.

Sony recently launched the much-awaited Sony Xperia Z1 (Honami) at the IFA event in Berlin. Many market observers believed that the Japanese company will also launch the compact version of the handset, the Xperia Z1 Mini, alongside the original version. However, Sony only launched the 5-inch Xperia Z1 at the event.

It seems that smartphone makers want to attract more customers with the launch of a mini version of their flagship with a smaller screen, placed in the mid-market segment. Samsung launched the compact version of its flagship, the Galaxy S4 Mini, and HTC also unveiled the HTC One Mini, which is the smaller variant of the HTC One. Rumors of the Sony Xperia Z1 have also been circling the smartphone space for many months and the company may reveal the handset to compete with other mini devices in its category.

The latest image of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini comes courtesy of Digi Wo (via Xperia Guide). The leaked image of the Xperia Z1 Mini shows the handset in a purple color placed along with the original Xperia Z1.

The Xperia Z1 Mini is expected to sport a 4.3-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. Being a compact version of the just-launched Xperia Z1 handset, many smartphone enthusiasts will hope that the company will use mid-range hardware in the smartphone. However, if rumors are to be believed, the Xperia Z1 Mini may sport a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 20.7-megapixel primary camera as found on the Xperia Z1.

On the other hand, the Xperia Z1 Mini will reportedly have a smaller battery of 2,400 mAh when compared to the Xperia Z1, which has a 3,050mAh battery.

The Xperia Z1 is pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The Xperia Z1 Mini may get the same operating system, but customers will hope that the handset features the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Sony has not announced the Xperia Z1 Mini yet, but we hope that the handset will hit the shelves sooner than later.
