Twitch, Lenovo Remain Silent on Adriana Chechik’s Injuries

Twitch and Lenovo has yet to directly address Adriana Chechik regarding her injuries.

Chechik recently revealed that the previously mentioned companies have yet to reach out to her regarding the injuries she sustained from the foam pit she jumped into in TwitchCon on Oct. 9.

The popular streamer broke her back in two places after jumping and landing on her tailbone in the foam pit following her victory over EdyBot in a competition.

The Reason Behind Twitch and Lenovo's Silence

Chechik tweeted on her official SFW Twitter page that Twitch and Lenovo have yet to reach out to her regarding her injuries from the latter company's foam pit, which also injured other streamers due to its shallowness.

According to the popular streamer, she found their silence and lack of well-wishes odd and that saying no nice words to her was "messed up."

"I find it odd that no one from any of the convention center[,] the booth[,] or twitch has even had well wishes or said anything," Chechik tweeted. "I get not talking about it publicly incident wise[,] but saying no nice words to me so far is kinda f***ed up."

A report from Gizmodo also reflected the two companies' silence on the matter, with Twitch being found to be highlighting good times while avoiding questions about Chechik's situation or Lenovo's foam pit.

Although Lenovo has not directly addressed Chechik's situation, her injuries, and the foam pit it set up for TwitchCon 2022, it did say that it is aware of streamers getting injured from its foam pit in an email to Gizmodo.

Kotaku's report confirmed Lenovo's response regarding its foampit at TwitchCon, saying that the company was the only one that publicly addressed the situation.

Unlike Lenovo, Twitch has not responded to Gizmodo's inquiries on Chechik's situation and other reported injuries involving the foam pit. Instead, it either referred to Lenovo or said that the company was not commenting on Chechik's incident and other foam pit-related injuries.

Twitch and Lenovo's silence on the matter is unsurprising, according to the lawyers Gizmodo talked to, though they did not mention a probable reason why they chose not to.

Interestingly, the San Diego Convention Center, the venue for TwitchCon 2022, is also silent on the matter, with Gizmodo not receiving a response to its inquiries about Chechik.

Chechik's Current Condition

Twitter Error

Chechik has recently been released from the hospital following her successful back surgery that repaired her broken back. She tweeted that the last surgery she underwent took five and a half hours as doctors had to correct bones that had been "completely crushed."

The popular streamer also revealed that she sustained nerve damage to her bladder, which may hinder her ability to pee in the near future.

She recently tried walking, probably with the assistance of a walker as an Oct. 14 video showed. However, she found the experience and even merely lying down in bed and sleeping "painful."

She also addressed the people asking her why she jumped, saying that she was among the people who assumed the foam pit was made with the proper safety precautions in mind.

"It's like getting into a car assuming the airbag will work and it doesn't," Chechik said. "I'm not at fault. None of the victims injured are."
