Tesla Opens Website for Public Voting on the Location of its Next Supercharger Station

Tesla Superchargers have obtained "high penetration levels already." Compared to other charging stations, the company is leading in terms of charging experience satisfaction as currently, only few routes are left uncovered by the automaker's network.

However, despite the 35% year-over-year increase in the charging stations that it deployed, the company is still planning to increase the network of its Supercharger station.

The company hopes to fill in gaps, especially on roads which are away from the main interstate highway system.

With this, the automaker made a decision to involve the public in their network development. The company sent a tweet and put up a website to ask for location suggestions for the upcoming Superchargers station.

The poll is now open and you can choose from the 183 suggestions which are included in the option. These locations covered various continents including North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia.

On Friday, Tesla opened the website dedicated to the public voting to determine the next location of the company's Supercharger. On the site, you can cast up to five votes for cities you think a station should be put up.

On the right side of the site, you will find a leaderboard showing which city is getting the highest votes. As of writing, Big Bear Lake, California is leading. Bolzano, Italy followed closely.

The company originally announced its intention to let the public decide on the location of its next Supercharger Station last month. Now, Tesla already put up the website where the public can vote.

Through Twitter, the company invited the public to vote. In the voting page, you can also find the option where you can suggest location that's not included in the list yet.

Non-Tesla Owners May Also Cast Their Votes

According to Tesla the votes will "help us decide on new Supercharger locations." The voting is a means for the company to collect information where to put its next Supercharger station.

Meanwhile, there is no word from Tesla how many stations the company is planning to build. Likewise, it is unclear how long the voting would last.

However, the voting site indicates that users can visit the site every three months to vote again in a new cycle.

The company is not issuing a statement how big each Supercharger station will be. Likewise, there's no word yet regarding the number of chargers at each station.

According to CNET, even non-Tesla owners may want to cast their votes. The report from the news site revealed that soon, even non-Tesla electric vehicles may be able to use the Supercharger stations to recharge.

However, there is no clear date yet when the company is planning to roll out the software update necessary for the non-Tesla vehicles to use the station to recharge.
