5 Things Amazon Alexa Cannot Do Just Yet

Ever since it was launched by Amazon, Alexa has been very useful thanks to the many tasks it can accomplish. It can get the weather report for you. It can make purchases or even a donation for you. You can even use it as a personal trainer.

While it does have more than 100,000 skils, believe it or not, there are actually certain things that Amazon Alexa cannot do just yet. Here are five examples:

Amazon Alexa Cannot Call 911

Amazon Alexa is capable of making calls to many people and numbers, but not to emergency services. Yes, you read that right. You cannot ask Alexa to call 911 for you.

There is, however, a way to get around that. According to Android Authority, what you can do is hook up an Echo Connect to your landline. If that is too much trouble for you, you can always just opt to set up an emergency contact or turn on Alexa Guard.

It should also be noted that, per CNET, Amazon Alexa cannot call 1-800 and 1-900 numbers for you just yet.

Amazon Alexa Cannot Purchase a Car on Your Behalf

Alexa may be equipped with features and skills that allow it to help your purchase groceries, clothes, and even prescription medicines and alcohol, there are still a number of things that you cannot ask it to buy for you.

One of which, understandably, is a car. So if you really want a new one to drive around town, well, you are going to have to do it yourself.

Amazon Alexa Cannot Speak a Number of Languages

While Alexa can obviously speak in English, as well as Spanish, French, German, Italian, Hindi, Japanese, and Portuguese (Brazilian), well, that's about it as far as the languages she can speak is concerned.

What that means is that she cannot speak in other languages not in this list such as Dutch, Korean, and Russian, among others.

Amazon Alexa Cannot Translate K-Pop Songs

K-Pop has been a big trends around the world the past few years despite the fact that a good chunk of its fans cannot understand Korean. If you happen to be a fan of K-Pop and you suddenly want to ask Alexa to translate a song for you so you can understand it, better luck next time.

As previously mentioned, Alexa cannot speak in Korean for now. But who knows? This might be a skill that Alexa eventually acquires once the language is added to her skills.

Amazon Alexa Cannot Turn on a Powered-Down PC

I think this comes as no surprise but yes, Alexa cannot turn on a powered-down PC. It can, however, wake up a sleeping Windows PC.

According to Lifewire, you will need to get the Wake on LAN skill from Amazon and enable it on your Amazon-enabled device for this to be possible.
