Bill Gates Turns 67: Here are 5 Things You Might Not Know About the Microsoft Co-Founder

Many people know that Bill Gates has long secured his place among the billionaires. But, how well do you actually know the tech genius? Here are facts that you might not know about the Co-Founder of Microsoft.

1. The Acquisition of Rare Things

When you're a billionaire, there's not much that you won't be able to buy. Bill Gates has a big collection of cars, but his Porsche 959 sports car takes the cake. According to Business Insider, Gates bought the car 13 years before it was even approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency or the US Department of Transportation.

Other than that, Bill Gates is also the proud owner of the Codex Leicester. It is a collection of Leonardo da Vinci's writings, which he bought for $30.8 million in a 1994 auction.

2. A Bookworm at Heart

The mere sight of a thick book can put most people to sleep, but not Gates. During his teenage years, he managed to read the entire "World Book Encyclopedia." One book has about 800 pages, and there are 22 volumes. That's about 17,600 pages.

Until now, the tech billionaire still enjoys reading. He still reads 50 books a year. He also stated that reading is still the main way that he learns new things, and tests his understanding.

3. Smarty Pants

Bill Gates did not finish college, Two years into his education, he decided to drop out and started Microsoft, as mentioned in Tatler. By 26, he was already a millionaire. He was even called "Harvard's most successful dropout" by Harvard Crimson.

But don't get any ideas. This is not a get-out-of-college card. Keep in mind that he was already knowledgeable about codes before he dropped out. Also, he nearly perfected the SATs. Out of 1600, he got 1590. That's already impressive, to begin with.

4. He Had Fun in His Youth

He is the co-founder of a billion-dollar company along with being a well-known philanthropist. No one could've guessed that Bill Gates has been arrested before. Now before you come into any assumptions, he was arrested for a traffic violation. Gates was arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico for running a red light and driving without a license. Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen bailed him out.

Bill has displayed quirkiness long before that. When his school discovered that Gates had a knack for code, they asked him to write a program that schedules classes for students. The tech genius altered the code so he would be placed in classes with "cute" girls. Sneaky.

5. It Will Always be Technology

Bill Gates bet on himself when he dropped out of college. If that didn't work out, Gates said that he would've gotten into artificial intelligence as a researcher. Either way, he would still contribute to the world of technology.

However, he did express his concerns about super intelligence. Other known names that share the same concern are Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, and theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking.
