Microsoft Releases Windows 11 KB5019980, KB5019961 Cumulative Updates

Microsoft has unveiled the cumulative updates for Windows 11 KB5019980 and Windows 11 KB5019961 versions 22H2 and 21H2 to resolve bugs and performance issues.

Bleeping Computer writes that these cumulative updates are mandatory as they carry the November 2022 Patch Tuesday security updates for security vulnerabilities discovered previously.

The Updates Come With Service Stacking Updates

According to XDA Developers, the rollout of these updates mark the final stage of the first feature drop for Windows 11.

The cumulative updates have already been available for a while and can be installed manually and optionally for those who want them.

The company shared a video highlighting the improvements for the 22H2 and 21H2 versions, including the ability to manage standalone OneDrive storage subscriptions, as well as some changes to the Settings app.

The updates also improved the Search feature on the taskbar, and now also allows users to access the Task Manager with a simple right click.

However, some of the changes are getting released in parts since Microsoft is still trying to get feedback from those who have the cumulative updates installed.

The company also claims that with the update, they fixed a few other issues as well, which include the problem with audio synchronization when recording with the Xbox Game Bar.

Microsoft also issued a fix for File Explorer, fixes for the corrupted display outputs, and a couple of fixes for Microsoft Edge's IE Mode, XDA Developers says.

Meanwhile, users who still have the 21H2 version of the Windows 11 release can also enjoy a long list of fixes for various problems, aside from the Task Manager enhancement.

According to Bleeping Computer, should Microsoft users want to install the update, they can go to the Start menu, choose Windows Update in the Settings, and click on Check for Updates.

Users can also manually download and install the cumulative updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog, which they can access through this link.

Microsoft Lists Other Updates And Fixes In The Release Notes

Aside from the enhancement of the search visual treatment on the taskbar for Windows 11, the rollout also improves the backup experience for users who use Microsoft Accounts (MSA).

It also addresses the issues that make the Start menu stop working when users use keyboard commands to move pinned items to a folder or within a list.

For version 21H2, the update addresses security issues for the Windows 11 operating system by making miscellaneous improvements to the internal OS functionality, Neowin reports.

Additionally, it fixes the bug that causes Microsoft Direct3D 9 games to stop working for Xbox if the hardware does not have a native Direct 3D 9 driver.

Furthermore, the issue that affected Dual SIM calling and Dual SIM functionality has been addressed for those who select no SIM on their phones to initiate calls.

Moreover, the update also stops the start of daylight saving time in Jordan at the end of October 2022, which permanently shifts it to the UTC + 3 time zone, according to Neowin.
