Time flies by so far and it will not be long before it is once again time for The Steam Awards. With the awarding for the 2022 winners scheduled for January 3, Steam is now accepting nominees for the different categories.
Here is what you have to know about the categories for The Steam Awards, how to nominate a game, and other things you need to take note of:
The 2022 Steam Awards Categories
There are a total of 11 categories you can nominate games in for the 2022 Steam Awards. These are:
- Game of the Year
- VR Game of the Year
- Labor of Love - an old game that is continuously updated by its developer
- Better with Friends
- Oustanding Visual Style
- Most Innovative Gameplay Award
- Best Game You Suck At
- Best Soundtrack
- Outstanding Story-Rich Game
- Sit Back and Relax - a game that lets you just relax and not stress out
- Best Game on the Go - a game that you can take with you because you can easily play it anywhere, anytime
As mentioned, the 2022 Steam Awards will announce the winners on January 3 at 10 a.m. PST.

How to Nominate, What to Take Note Of
To nominate a game, you simply have to go on the Steam website, look for the category you want to nominate a game in, and place your nomination. Please keep in mind that "For every category except Labor of Love, only games that released on Steam after the 2021 Autumn Sale (December 1st, 2021 at 10AM Pacific) will be eligible for nominations," says Steam.
"For the Labor of Love category, all released games are eligible for nomination with the exception of previous year's winners (Warframe, GTA V, CS:GO and Terraria)," it adds.
Should you wish to change your nomination, it is possible to edit it. Just click the edit button found when making your nomination.
Nominating games for the upcoming Steam Awards will earn you badges the moment you accomplish certain tasks. Earning badges will then earn you an additional of 25XP for every badge. The tasks you have to complete are as follows:
- Nominate at least one game
- Nominate a game in each category
- Play a game you have nominated
- Review or update a review you have given for a game you nominated
