6 Easter Eggs from ‘God of War Ragnarok’ You Might’ve Missed

The long-awaited God of War Ragnarok was released on November 9th, and there has already been ample time for gamers to finish it three times over, seeing as three weeks had already passed. Of course, there are those who pay more attention than others, spotting easter eggs within the game. We compiled a few of them for you.

1. The Wolf and the Serpent

If you're familiar with Norse mythology, then you'd know that Loki is the father of Fenrir, the giant wolf, and Jörmungandr the World Serpent. Angrboda and Loki were married in the myths, but since Atreus is still a bit too young to be a father, the two were given new origins. In the 2018 release, Jörmungandr even said that Atreus looked familiar (dad?).

2.  Finding Tyr (Spoiler Ahead)

If you haven't finished the game, don't read this part. If you have, then we have an easter egg for you to find. In the main story, as mentioned in The Gamer, you'll find out that the Tyr you freed is actually Odin. After that, one of the fan favorites, Brok, will be killed. It might make you wonder where Tyr actually is.

To answer your question, he's in Niflheim. There is a secret prison in the realm where you'll find the actual Tyr. There's no side mission or anything, and you'll have to finish the main story before this becomes possible. Knowing players, they'll still find him for the satisfaction of doing so.

3. A Dwarven Surprise

When you're in Svartalfheim, you'll encounter several dwarves, but one, in particular, is meant to be special. You will find a musician named Raeb, who is playing music in the tavern. The character is played by the composer of the recent and previous God of War games, and the character is meant to honor him.

Raeb is actually just the composer's name backwards, which is Bear McCreary. Once you meet him, he'll give you directions for the main campaign, as well as the first side mission. Just a little tidbit to help the composer be recognized more, as he deserves.

4. Kvasir the Gamer

Once you get a hold of Kvasir's notebook, you'll find poems with many hints about other video games. One example is Horizon Zero Dawn, with mention of "creatures of metal" and "hair, red as blood." If you want to read the entire entry, find one with the title "The Sunrise of Nothingness," as mentioned by ScreenRant. There are also other games referenced in there.

5. Atreus the Eavesdropper

When you're in Asgard playing as Atreus, you can actually listen in on Odin and Heimdall's conversation. They will be speaking about the mask that would help them stop Ragnarok from happening. You can sneak up by the door and start listening, but Odin knows. He will tell you that he knows you're listening and to go away.

6. Not So Fluffy

When you reach Sindri's house, you can talk to Ratatoskr, and you'll be provided with various side missions. Before you talk to him, you'll have to hit a chime so he will come around. The thing is, you can actually annoy the one-eyed furball. All it takes is a little patience.

Hit the chime repeatedly even after he appears, and you'll hear many dialogues where he'll react with patience and consideration, but he'll eventually snap, which is the best part about the entire encounter.
