Verizon Motorola DROID MINI now available for $49.99

You can now pick up the just-released Verizon Motorola DROID MINI from Amazon for half the price Verizon is currently charging online and in its retail stores.

When Verizon and Motorola launched the carrier's latest generation of DROID smartphones, Motorola made a wise move that other smartphone manufacturers should take note. The company launched three DROID handsets - the super thin DROID ULTRA, the up to 48 hours DROID MAXX, and DROID MINI with a 4.3-inch display. Motorola kept the same high-end specs in each model. The DROID MINI is just as powerful and fast as the DROID MAXX. It was a refreshing move on Motorola's part to not water down its "Mini" smartphone like all of its rivals and provide the same user experience across the board, except for the fact that the ULTRA and MAXX both have a larger 5-inch display.

Since the DROID MINI is a Motorola smartphone and it also gets the added benefit of using the innovative touchless controls found in the Moto X.  Simply speak to the smartphone, even while it's asleep, and it will recognize your voice, turn on, and perform different tasks. It also features the same wrist gesture to automatically launch the camera, as found in the Moto X.

The DROID MINI features a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 HD display and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It is powered by Motorola's new X8 Mobile Computing system, which includes a 1.7GHz dual-core application processor with quad-core graphics and 2GB of RAM to provide a smooth and fast user experience. It has 16GB of internal storage, a 10-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD recording, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Its wireless capabilities include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC and a non-removable 2.130 mAh battery providing up to 28 hours of usage.

Amazon is selling the Verizon Motorola DROID MINI for $49.99 when signing a new 2-year contract. This allows for considerable savings over the $99.99 Verizon is charging for the handset online and in its retail stores. Amazon is also throwing in free two-day shipping with the order.
