Twitter Suspends Account that Tracks Elon Musk's Private Jet

On Wednesday, Twitter suspended @ElonJet for having violated unspecified Twitter rules, as per Gizmodo.

Similarly, the social media platform also suspended the accounts tracking the jets of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The billionaire announced his intention to seek legal action on Twitter on Wednesday evening, just hours after the social media platform suspended the @ElonJet account.

In a tweet, Musk narrated that the car carrying his son, X, was followed by a crazy stalker on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. According to the CEO, the perpetrator blocked the car from moving and climbed onto the hood.

With this, he announced that he is taking legal action against @ElonJet's owner, Jack Sweeney, and organizations who are supporting harm to his family, as per Interesting Engineering.

Tesla's CEO also posted a video of the alleged perpetrator together with his license plate. The alleged perpetrator is wearing a black hoodie and a half-cover ski mask.

On Twitter, he asked his more than 120 million followers if they could recognize the person in the video and the car.

In addition, the billionaire also announced a change to Twitter's policy when it comes to sharing real-time information. It states that "any account doxxing real-time location info of anyone will be suspended."

He added that sharing the real-time location of a person was a "physical safety violation." Moreover, he explained that the social media platform would also ban accounts that post links to sites with real-time location information.

Twitter Shadowbanned @ElonJet Account

The Twitter account @ElonJet is being managed by Sweeney, a first-year student at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

According to him, in order to track Musk's private jet, he is using publicly available transponder data from the plane.

Such data includes the private jet's altitude, latitude, longitude, and heading. These data are then fed into an algorithm that Sweeney designed. Then, the @ElonJet bot takes the information and posts tweets when the jet takes off and lands.

On Sunday, @ElonJet's owner claimed that the Twitter account was shadowbanned on the social media platform.

When shadowbanned, it becomes difficult for Twitter users to find the profile and posts of an account.

Sweeney narrated in a thread called "My Twitter Files," that an anonymous employee of the social media platform told him that the @ElonJet account was given limited visibility to a severe degree.

But just hours after he posted his thread on Twitter and after some media organizations reported on the issue, he posted a new tweet saying that it appeared that the social media platform had lifted its restrictions on @ElonJet.

However, following Musk's announcement, it seems like the account is now permanently banned on Twitter.
