Sloclap’s Sifu Set To Arrive on Xbox and Steam This Spring

One of the best indie action fighting games is coming to the Xbox and Steam.

Indie game developer Sloclap recently announced that its Kung-Fu revenge epic Sifu would soon debut on Xbox and Steam this spring.

The game will also come with a huge free update that gives players more ways to enjoy the game's martial arts combat.

Sifu Xbox, Steam Debut Details

Sloclap mentioned in its announcement that it will soon make Sifu available on the Xbox Store and Steam in March 2023 for $39.99, per Games Press.

This debut will give gamers that don't have a PlayStation console, a Nintendo Switch, or an Epic Games Store account the chance to experience its stylized and celebrated martial arts combat on the console or online store of their choice.

For those unaware, Sifu is one of 2022's most successful games commercially and critically, with Sloclap being able to sell 1.5 million copies to date.

The game is also nominated several times to win awards in the recent video games awards, with it being a candidate for Best Indie Game, Best Action Game, and Best Fighting Game.

Sloclap attributed these nominations to the game's attention to detail and fast-paced, precise animation.

The game follows the story of a young Kung Fu student and his warpath to exact vengeance on those who murdered his family, per IMDb.

Alone and with countless enemies ahead of him, he must rely on his mastery of Kung Fu and a mysterious pendant to win and preserve his family's legacy.

The magic pendant revives the protagonist should he die along the way, but using its power will drastically age them each time it does so. As such, it is possible to remain undefeated and keep the main protagonist's age as it was at the start of the game.

IGN found the game's combat mechanics as "impeccable," with it being "deep, incredibly smooth, challenging and impactful," as the game never lets up in giving players a challenge.

Polygon praised the game's ability to keep players on their feet but criticized how confusing it can be for new players.

Arenas Mode Details

In addition to the game becoming available to Xbox and Steam, Sloclapalso mentioned that it would also have a new Arenas mode for players to enjoy.

The mode consists of nine new maps featuring exclusive new challenges of different difficulty levels. Completing them will unlock new modifiers and alternate moves for the main character, along with additional cheats and new outfits, per Eurogamer.

To celebrate these new developments to the game, Sloclap released a new trailer detailing what players can expect from them when it goes live in March 2023.

However, these aren't the only offerings the March 2023 update will have, though information regarding these other offerings is scarce as of press time.

Nevertheless, playing Sifu again or for the first time would be more worthwhile than ever come Spring 2023.
