Sony Xperia Z1 f (Z1 Mini) new details and images leak

A new image of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini has leaked, along with some information about the device. It will be called the Xperia Z1 f, have high-end specs, multiple color choices, and more.

We've seen major smartphone companies launch miniature versions of their flagship smartphone this year. Samsung introduced the Galaxy S4 Mini, HTC soon followed with the shrunken down HTC One Mini, and Motorola brought the DROID MINI to Verizon. Sony is getting ready to launch its own miniature version of its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1.

The Xperia Z1 Mini has been rumored for months and new information has just leaked, giving us a better idea on what we can expect in Sony's mini smartphone. According to the Xperia Blog, the smartphone will officially be called the Xperia Z1 f. The document obtained by the site confirms previous rumors that the Xperia Z1 f will retain the high-end specs found on the Xperia Z1, which include the high-end camera and quad-core processor. The handset, just like the iPhone 5c, will be offered in multiple colors. Unlike its rivals, Sony isn't watering down the specs in its mini smartphone. The Xperia Z1 Mini is going to ship with virtually identical specs to the original Xperia Z1.

The Sony Xperia Z1 f will feature a 4.3-inch 720p TRILUMINOS display and will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the Xperia UI on top. It will be powered by a 2.2Ghz  quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. Its camera capabilities are expected to include a 20.7-megapixel camera with F/2.0 Sony G Lens and a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.

The smartphone will reportedly include 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards.. The Xperia Z1 f will reportedly use a non-removable 2,300 mAh battery and the smartphone will be IP55/IP58 certified waterproof and dust-resistant, just like Sony's current smartphones and tablets. Its dimensions are 127mm x 64.9mm x 9.4mm and it will be available in a choice of black, white, pink and yellow.

There is no word on when we can expect to see the Xperia Z1 f hit the market, but it shouldn't be much longer considering these latest documents and images of the device.
