The livestreaming service Twitch is back up after a lengthy outage, with the Twitch Status page also currently working as well.

This comes after the company resolved an issue that was preventing elements of Twitch, such as channels and streams, from loading properly.

The Issue Prevented Users From Watching Twitch Streams

The well-known streaming website Twitch has momentarily gone offline due to a serious outage, which has also affected numerous other streaming pages.

The streaming website displayed blank account pages or "an error has occurred" throughout the incident, giving the impression that a streamer had erased their account to some viewers.

IGN writes that while the platform was experiencing issues, streaming pages are not appearing while the site is loading, leaving it strangely vacant.

Both desktop and mobile users of Twitch were impacted by the outage, with iOS and Android users encountering "error loading followed channels" upon accessing the app.

According to The Verge, users of Twitch mobile were also unable to find streamers using the search feature either.

Around 1 PM ET, the website started receiving more than 21,000 complaints about the streaming network's malfunction, according to Engadget.

Twitch recognized the outage and tweeted that they are looking into the problem blocking numerous portions of Twitch from loading at 1:24 PM ET.

The company later announced that everything was back in working order at 2:36 PM ET, less than an hour after announcing that it was trying to deploy a fix.

With that, it claims that the issue has been fixed that should bring the platform's services back to normal, even instructing users to refresh the site for it to function properly.

CNet reports that viewers of Twitch were unable to log in, search, or view any streams earlier in the day, but the site gave no explanation for the outage.

Twitch Users Are Migrating To Other Platforms Not Only During The Outage

In order to keep their chat room active during the massive outage, some Twitch streamers turned to Discord.

Meanwhile, gamers can still watch live content in the interim because alternate streaming services like YouTube or Facebook Gaming are not currently experiencing any problems.

As memes about the incident spread among streamers and other members of the community, the Amazon-owned corporation has already begun to draw criticism for all the problems on its website.

Given that the essential Twitch services went down so early in the year, many people on social media began criticizing the company, Sport Skeeda notes.

It can be remembered that due to the numerous issues the platform has been experiencing, Twitch's viewership figures hit a significant low since September 2020, with 1.69 billion hours of content watched in November 2022.

According to Dexerto, Since June 2021's 15% decline, the 10% decline in viewership from October to November has been the largest for the platform.

Additionally, Twitch's policy on creator income has also caused a number of outstanding talent to switch to its main competitor, YouTube Gaming.
