CES 2023: MSI Reveals Wi-Fi Router with Antennas That Can Follow You Where You Go

MSI is a tech company known for making motherboards and laptops. But today at CES 2023 in Las Legas, it announced a unique type of router that will solve your spotty Wi-Fi problem at home.

The new device is called MSI RadiX BE22000 Turbo and unlike some other routers that you can find in the market, it comes with antennas that follow a specific device as it moves around the house.

MSI's Wi-Fi Router is Designed to Support Wi-Fi 7

As per Engadget, the MSI RadiX BE22000 Turbo is packed with a lot of features you can possibly think of in order to ensure that you get the fastest wireless speeds possible.

The router is designed to support Wi-Fi 7. Moreover, it includes MSI's AI QoS tech. This can reduce your ping while gaming. It can even prioritize different types of content such as streaming video at just the touch of a button.

It has a channel bandwidth of 320MHz. With this, MSI claims that the MSI RadiX BE22000 Turbo delivers 4x faster throughput when compared to a typical Wi-Fi 6 router.

The antennas are RadiX BE22000 Turbo's standout feature because, unlike other routers, they have the ability to automatically adjust their position to follow a specific device as it moves around your house.

Because of this, the router will be able to deliver optimal wireless coverage at all times.

You will find four antenna blades in the router that sprout from its base. These antennae can dynamically detect the location of the device connecting to the router, according Tom's Hardware

In addition, it can change the antenna pattern for the best performance, according to Mobigyaan.

Unfortunately, MSI did not give further details on what criteria determine which wireless device gets preferential treatment regarding antenna redirection.

Similarly, the tech company did not elaborate on how much of a performance improvement is noticeable versus fixed antennae.

MSI's New Wi-Fi Router Might Debut in 2024

The unfortunate news is the MSI RadiX BE22000 Turbo won't be available for purchase anytime soon. With that, the company hasn't revealed the pricing information yet.

According to MSI, they do not expect the BE22000 Turbo to go on sale until sometime in 2024. The company said that there are still a couple of important hurdles that they have to deal with like waiting for the Wi-Fi spec to be finalized.

In addition, there are other challenges that they have to face such as ensuring the motors for the router's antennas can handle months and years of constant operation.

According to Engadget, the RadiX only had a short time of operation while on display at CES, but the speed at which its antennas moved became a bit sluggish because of increased heat.

There are some concerns regarding MSI's router such as how would it know which device should be prioritized in a house filled with multiple gadgets.

Similarly, those who viewed the device are wondering about the repair process if one of its antenna motors dies.

But in general, the MSI RadiX BE22000 Turbo is an impressive creation and it's something that you can expect to see at an event like CES.
