12 Valorant Slangs and What They Mean

Every game has a unique set of jargon or slang that gamers use. Usually, it's shortened or applies to a specific situation so players can convey a message quicker. If you're new to Valorant and have no idea what some of them are, it might cause miscommunication, so it's best to learn what they mean.

1. NT

"NT" simply means "nice try." This is when a teammate tries their best to win a round but dies in the process. It's a good way to let them know that you're rooting for them despite not winning the round. It could boost their confidence which will help the team win the game.

2. MB

"MB" is short for "my bad." Players usually type or say it in comms when they made a mistake that got them or a teammate killed. The appropriate response is "NT" if you're wondering. No need to kick a man while he's down.

3. Heaven/Hell

The two are usually terms for high or low grounds in the terrain, as mentioned by Red Bull. Your teammates will usually say "heaven" or "hell" in comms when they see enemies or die in that spot. It's a useful warning to others so they won't be blindsided by an enemy on a different ground level.

4. Res

This only applies to players who use Sage. There are other healers in the agent roster like Skye, but only Sage is capable of resurrecting a fallen teammate. "Res" is basically short for "resurrect," which is  Sage's ultimate ability.

5. Walk/Shift Walk

If you've played Valorant, then you know that both your team and the enemy team can hear your footsteps. When you know that the enemy team is there for an ambush, you have to press down the shift key (or whatever key you assigned for it) to approach quietly.

If you try to barge in all loud and proud, your teammates will probably tell you to walk. If you don't, you might as well just announce your location in the chat for all. Since enemies are waiting for you, you won't hear them, but they will hear you.

6. Camping/Cubby

"Camping" or "cubby" means that a player is hiding somewhere so they can shoot you as you pass by. When a teammate says someone is camping, you can use your utilities to draw them out or spot them. Otherwise, steer clear unless you know that you can aim faster than them.

7. Wallbang

Now that we've established camping, you can try and kill them through a wall. "Wallbang" means shooting through the wall with a heavy weapon. You can actually apply damage through that move. Just make sure you're using heavy guns like Ares or Odin.

8. Save/Eco

"Eco" stands for "economy." When players say they're playing eco for the round, they'll purchase cheaper weapons with lower damage. Usually, players do this so they can save up. That way, they'll have enough credits to go heavy and buy armor for the next round.

9. Play for Picks

This usually applies when you're the defenders. Playing for picks means that you'll wait for the enemy to come to you, as mentioned by British E-Sports. This can also apply when the enemy team is a bit aggressive and pushes even though they're the defending team.

10. Op

"Op" is short for Operator, which is the high-damage sniper rifle in the game. Teammates usually say this when they know that there's an enemy in the distance with a sniper. It could also mean that they want you to pick up the Operator of a teammate or enemy who died.

It's common courtesy to pick up an Operator and give it to a teammate who can use it for the next round. Other than it being expensive, it could also help your team win by picking off enemies from a distance. You can even use it yourself if you want to.

11. Rotate

When someone asks the team to rotate, it's because the site where you can plant the spike is heavily guarded or is impossible to penetrate. Rotating means heading to a different site to plant. You'll have a better chance especially if the enemy team used up all their utilities to guard the initial site.

12. GG/GGEZ

"GG" means "good game." This is also said in other games once the match is done. It's a polite and short way of saying that you had a nice time playing. "GGEZ" is the same, but with the additional "EZ" meaning "easy." It's usually to mock the other team saying that it was an easy win. Don't be a "GGEZ" kind of person. It's rude.
