Samsung’s Self-Repair Program Expansion Lets You Repair Your Galaxy S22

Samsung Galaxy S22 owners can now skip the Samsung-certified technician for repairs.

The popular tech giant recently revealed it expanded its self-repair program to include the parts and manuals required to repair Samsung Galaxy S22 models - along with its Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 360 laptops.

Samsung previously expanded its self-repair program to include parts and manuals required to help customers repair Galaxy S20, S21, and Galaxy Tab S7+ on their own.

Samsung Self-Repair Program Expansion Details

Samsung mentioned in its announcement that its self-repair program now includes genuine repair parts for the Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, Galaxy Book Pro 15", and Galaxy Book Pro 360 15".

The tech giant revealed it collaborated with self-repair giant iFixit to create simple manuals to guide the owners of these devices on how to repair them should an issue pops up.

The expansion is part of Samsung's efforts to provide "convenient, accessible, and quality care" so people can maintain their Samsung devices on their own.

Let's start with the S22 and its Pro and Ultra models. The owners of these devices can replace display assemblies, back glass, and charging ports soon, much as it did with its Galaxy S20 and S21 series.

Unfortunately, these are the only repair options Samsung made available for the Galaxy S22 and its Pro and Ultra models. However, they did the same with its Galaxy S20 and S21 series phones, which the company promised it would eventually expand.

As such, Galaxy S22 users could probably repair more than just their phones' display assemblies, back glass, and charging ports in the foreseeable future.

Although Samsung didn't mention which of the parts of a Galaxy Book Pro 15" and Galaxy Book Pro 360 users can replace, The Verge reports that it can provide replacements for the laptops' 15-inch screens, upper case/ keyboard, trackpad, fingerprint reader, lower case, and battery.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Book Pro 360 gets the same replacement items the Galaxy Book Pro 15" acquired in addition to the replacement rubber feet Samsung provides.

Samsung mentioned that all of these replacement items are available starting Jan. 17, meaning those who wish to repair their respective devices themselves with these replacement items can do so now.

Samsung Self-Repair Program Replacement Item Prices

People looking to repair their Galaxy S22 phones, Galaxy Book Pro 15", and Galaxy Book Pro 360 may be in for quite the wallet beating. Samsung is still insisting on shipping genuine Galaxy S screens and batteries as single assemblies, meaning that customers need to pay for a display even if their only issue is the battery.

The reason behind this bundle is that the screen and battery are stuck to each other due to Samsung using non-removable adhesives for the battery, making the idea of pulling them apart from each other a risky one.

Despite this, Samsung is only charging $166.99 for an S22 ultra screen and battery - an almost $30 difference from the $194 Apple is charging for an iPhone 13 mini display.
