DoorDash To Deliver Starbucks in the US in March

DoorDash will soon deliver Starbucks products to every doorstep in the country.

The two companies have recently expanded their partnership further, allowing the popular delivery service to expand into additional markets and soon deliver Starbucks products to people nationwide.

DoorDash was previously only able to deliver Starbucks products in select places, such as Atlanta, Houston, Seattle, Portland, and New York City.

DoorDash - Starbucks Partnership Expansion Details

DoorDash mentioned in its announcement that its new delivery service in collaboration with Starbucks is launching in Northern California, Texas, Georgia, Florida, and other select markets on Jan. 17.

As such, Starbucks delivery via the popular delivery service will expand to additional markets in the coming months, with the two companies expecting full nationwide availability by March 2023.

This expansion follows the positive feedback the delivery service received in Atlanta, Houston, and Sacramento, along with the additional market expansion in Seattle, Portland, and New York City in 2021.

As a result, DoorDash app users in Northern California, Texas, Georgia, Florida, and in other markets can use the app instead of the dedicated Starbucks app to place orders with their nearest Starbucks branch, per The Verge.

DoorDash app users shouldn't worry about having only a limited number of products to order. Starbucks mentioned that it would make about 95% of its "core menu" available through the app. Starbucks would even let customers customize their orders as if they were using Starbucks' own app.

They don't have to worry about their orders taking so long as DoorDash's platform comes with "an extensive network" of Dashers that can deliver orders in a timely manner. They can also track their orders through DoorDash from preparation to drop-off.

Finally, Starbucks branches will use packaging solutions the company developed to help ensure products stay fresh and of high quality when it reaches to custoemrs' doorstep. This includes stickers for beverages to avoid spilling, tamper evident packaging, and delivery-specific cup holders.

Whether these stickers and cup holders can keep Starbucks' food and beverages in the same condition as it was before it left the store is still debetable due to hard braking and tight turns.

Subscribers to DoorDash's DashPash can get their orders of $12 or more for free. However, regular customers may have to pay for their oder and the delivery fee.

Brooke O'Berry, Starbucks senior vice president of digital experiences, mentioned that its partnership with DoorDash allows the company to provide its customers with another delivery option for them to enjoy their products at home.

A Silver Lining

The expansion of DoorDash and Starbucks' partnership came at one of the more trying times for both companies. The ongoing recesision due to rising inflation, along with the easing of pandemic restrictions, stemmed DoorDrash's growth.

This lack of growth led them to lay off 1,250 employees in Nov. 2022. However, the expansion of the company's partnership with Starbucks did help the company stock price to increase by 2%, per Tech Crunch.

Meanwhile, Starbucks became the target of many-a labor violation, with employees unionizing at locations across the country.
