Albion Online Announces Dedicated Server for Asia-Pacific Region

Albion Online is taking the Asia-Pacific region by storm.

Sandbox Interactive recently announced the launch of Albion East, Albion Online's dedicated Asia-Pacific server for players situated throughout Australia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia.

The game is free-to-play, but purchasing Founder Packs can get players full access to the game's closed beta testing servers that launch in February and early access to the new dedicated server.

What's Albion Online?

Albion Online is Sandbox Interactive's cross-platform MMORPG that focuses on providing as much freedom to the player as possible. It features full-loot combat, a fully player-driven economy, and a classless "you are what you wear" skill system. According to the game's Steam blog post, players do not have to choose any specific playstyle, class, or role.

A player character's equipped armor and weapons define the abilities they have, opening up different playstyles for players to experiment with to see which is best for them. Each in-game milestone accomplished on the Destiny Board will unlock new gear in turn, meaning that the game won't let players go without some gear as players complete the game's milestones.

This focus on giving players freedom is also reflected in how it lets players write their own stories - it doesn't have any linear path with predetermined quests for them to accomplish.

It's up to the player to decide what they want to do with their character.

For players to make a name for themselves, they have to gather, craft, trade, or join up with friends and allies to do so.

The game's world is not just one big grassland, though. The game features five biomes spread across two continents that offer opportunities for exploration and discovery.

Albion Online is playable on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android using a single account, and is localized into many languages such as Indonesian, Japanese, and Korean.

Albion Online Asia-Pacific Server Details

Albion Online's Asia-Pacific players are in for a treat in the game's new Albion East dedicated server. According to Sandbox Interactive, the new dedicated server comes with a new and untouched version of the game, meaning that all players start as equals and can claim a piece of Albion for themselves.

Since this is a dedicated server, it is fully separate and independent from the existing "Albion West" server, with all the improved connection speeds and ping for the entire Asia-Pacific Region. Albion Online's in-game time and server events will also be optimized for the region.

This change means that players joining the Albion East dedicated server won't have to worry about timezones as much as they did before.

Additionally, Founders can participate in the game's closed beta prior to server launch, allowing them to receive accelerated Fame progression, and can gain early access to the full server launch.

Reserving existing characters and guild names is also included in the perks for Founders.
