Oppo’s Latest Upcoming Foldable Phone Could Go Global

Foldable smartphone fans worldwide will soon see Oppo's first globally-available foldable.

The China-based smartphone giant is reportedly planning to launch its first foldable for the global market, the Oppo Find N2 Flip, to the rest of the world soon.

The smartphone giant previously limited the release of its first foldable phone it developed, the Oppo Find N, to China, forcing many people who wish to try Android 13 to be "certified developers" in the east Asian country.

Oppo Find N2 Flip Global release Details

Oppo is finally taking its foldable phones outside its home turf of China. According to Android Police, the company could debut the Find N2 Flip at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2023, citing leaker SnoopyTech's tweet regarding the phone's debut.

SnoopyTech claimed that Oppo's Find N2 Flip's European and global launch could be announced during the event, with the company already sharing the phone's full specs sheet in preparation.

Since MWC Barcelona 2023 will go through from Feb. 27 to Mar. 2, according to the event's official website, Oppo will likely announce the Find N2 Flip global version within this timeframe.

Oppo Find N2 Flip Specifications and Features

Based on the specs sheet, Oppo's Find N2 Flip global edition is quite the device. It will house a 3.26-inch cover display on the outside with a 60Hz refresh rate, allowing it to be used as a viewfinder while capturing or recording selfies.

This outside display offers 720x382 pixel resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, per Gizmochina.

Meanwhile, the main folding display is a 6.8-inch 21:9 aspect ratio display that features a 120Hz refresh rate. a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels, and a 403 PPI pixel display.

The phone also uses a "next-gen" hinge that doesn't leave a noticeable crease, much like Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5. You may remember that the company is using the same waterdrop hinge style on its foldable phones.

The phone is equipped with MediaTek's Dimensity 9000+ chip, an overclocked version of Oppo's flagship chip from 2022. It provides a 5% faster CPU and a 10% faster GPU, 8GB of upgradable RAM, and 256GB of internal storage.

Customers can choose to upgrade the phone's RAM to 16GB if they so wish.

As for cameras, the Find N2 Flip is equipped with a 32-megapixel Sony IMX709 on the front for a selfie camera, a 50-megapixel main camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens for its main (rear) cameras.

Finally, the phone will have a 4,300mAh battery with a 44W SVOOC fast charging solution. It even has a dual sim feature, 5G-capable, Bluetooth5.3, NFC, Wi-Fi 6-ready, and an IPX4 rating - a first in Oppo's foldable phones.

According to Suprabeam, an IPX4 rating means that the Oppo Find N2 Flip is splash waterproof, meaning that sweat, rainfall, and water splashes won't damage the phone.

However, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which has a higher waterproof rating of IPX8, the phone can't be submerged in water.
