Donald Trump Previously Asked Twitter To Remove a Mean Tweet About Him

Donald Trump may have wanted some people censored during his time as president.

A former Twitter employee recently revealed that Trump previously wanted to remove a tweet from Chrissy Teigen, who used crude words to mock him in response to his comments.

Trump previously favored Twitter as his first means of communication with his followers and supporters before and during his tenure as president but switched to Truth Social following his permanent ban after the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol siege.

(L-R) Former chief legal officer of Twitter Vijaya Gadde, former global head of trust & safety of Twitter Yoel Roth, and former Twitter employee Anika Collier Navaroli testify during a hearing before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee at Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill on February 8, 2023 in Washington, DC.

Former Twitter employee Anika Navaroli, who was once the microblogging platform's senior member of its US Safety Policy, testified at a recent House Oversight Committee that her team previously received a request to remove a tweet mocking Trump, per Engadget.

In the testimony she gave during the hearing with former Twitter executives over their handling of a 2020 New York Post story about Hunter Biden's laptop, Navaroli revealed that the Trump White House sent a request to Twitter to remove a tweet from Chrissy Teigen that called Trump a "p***y a** b***h." This remark is in response to Trump's comments about Teigen and her husband, John Legend.

You may remember that Trump previously blasted them for being "insufferably grateful" to him for signing the criminal justice reform First Step Act, per Rolling Stone. Trump mentioned in his tweet that the famous musician is "boring" while Teigen is his "filthy-mouthed wife."

Additionally, the Trump White House asked Twitter to evaluate Teigen's tweet to determine whether it violated its "insults policy," a request which Navaroli remembers.

However, Twitter found that Teigen's tweet did not violate this policy, and as such, it remained up.

Navaroli also revealed that Twitter previously changed its policies to avoid taking action against one of Trump's tweets he made in 2019 addressed to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other lawmakers. She mentioned that the company removed internal "moderation guidance" that used "go back to where you came from" as an example of a language that would break its rules.

As a result, Trump's tweet addressed to AOC and other lawmakers to "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came," which Twitter would normally remove, stayed up.

A Bigger Problem Than Hunter Biden's Laptop

The hearing Navaroli was in was supposed to tackle Hunter Biden's laptop and its contents. However, Navaroli's revelation uncovered a bigger problem in the government: Republicans and Democrats are constantly asking Twitter and other similar companies to remove or shadow-ban each other.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk released The Twitter Files revealing that Democrats and the feds are almost exclusively requesting Twitter to take down tweets from Republicans.

However, Navaroli's revelations and former Trump administration officials and Twitter employees' statements evened the scales as they showed that Republicans are doing the same thing they are criticizing Democrats for.

This fact is not lost on Republican lawmakers, especially Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who berated Navaroli and even mocked her during the hearing with statements saying that she's thankful Navaroli lost her job in Twitter.
