Namco Releases Marshall Law Gameplay Reveal Trailer — Watch It Here!

The Tekken series' tribute to Bruce Lee is still in the game.

Bandi Namco recently released a gameplay reveal trailer for the Tekken community's favorite Bruce Lee tribute, Marshall Law, complete with references to the famed martial artist.

Namco's release of Law's gameplay reveal trailer follows the one dedicated to his best buddy, Paul Phoenix.

Marshall Law Gameplay Reveal Trailer Details

Marshall Law's gameplay reveal video does its job well. Much like game mainstays Jon Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, and Nina Williams, Marshall Law sports and uses a weapon in his fighting style. In this case, the elder Law uses nunchucks in tandem with his fighting style, Jeet Kune Do - Bruce Lee's signature fighting style and martial art, which he founded from Wing Chun, per the MMA Channel.

Despite having nunchucks, Law mostly uses his feet and fists to deal attacks with, though he incorporates them in some of his combos, especially in his rage art. Regardless, according to Hype Beast, Law still offers his familiar fight stance hops, hand taunts, nose flicks, finger-pointing, and high-pitched battle cries, just like Bruce did in the past.

Additionally, his updated moveset comes with his classic Somersault Flip and counters, along with his new Rage Art that recreates Bruce Lee's famous stomp in his 1973 film "Enter the Dragon." Gamespot even notes that Law's stomp resembles much of Bruce Lee's, down to the facial expression.

Marshall law isn't the only character that Namco developed as a tribute to real-life martial artists. Eurogamer stated that Lei Wulong, a character first introduced in Tekken 2 for the PlayStation 1, is Jackie Chan in all but name.

Whether Lei Wulong will be included in the game to equalize the number of martial artist tributes in it is still up for debate, though if the leaked Tekken 8 roster is anything to go by, our favorite Namco Interpol agent won't be returning for Tekken 8. Still, he may be a DLC character again like in Tekken 7.

However, Namco confirmed Law's best buddy, Paul Phoenix to be returning for Tekken 8 with his own gameplay reveal trailer. Though he looks worse for the wear, his power as a fighter is still unmatched for those who know how to use him in the game.

Tekken 8 Release Date Details

Namco has yet to reveal a definite release date for Tekken 8, but it did share that it will be available for next-gen gaming consoles, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on the PC through Steam. There are still a bunch of characters Namco has yet to confirm for the game's character roster, so the game's release date may still be a ways off.

Regardless, the game comes with a story that may spell the end of the conflict between Jin Kazama and his father, Kazuya Mishima, with Jin's mother, Jun Kazama, making her first appearance in the series' canon games for almost 28 years since her debut in Tekken 2.
