Sprint has announced it will offer Apple's latest flagship iPad, the iPad Air, starting on Nov. 1. Interested buyers will be able to purchase the Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad Air through Sprint's online and retail stores.
Apple has just announced its latest 9.7-inch iPad Air. The updated tablet features a stunning 9.7-inch Retina Display, which features over 3.1 million pixels. Its all-new design makes it 20 percent thinner and 28 percent lighter than its predecessor, the iPad 4. The iPad Air takes design inspiration from the original iPad mini, which featured narrower bezels around its display and a thin and light aluminum unibody enclosure. The iPad Air is also the lightest full size tablet, weighing in at 1 pound, hence the renaming.
The iPad Air runs the latest version of iOS, the completely redesigned iOS 7, and uses the same 64-bit A7 chip and M7 coprocessor Apple introduced with the iPhone 5s. The A7 chip and M7 coprocessor allow developers to create powerful desktop class applications, while maintaining the excellent battery life iPad is known for. Apple claims the iPad Air will provide users with up to 10 hours of battery life.
Sprint has announced it will offer the iPad Air Wi-Fi + Cellular models online and in its retail stores beginning on Nov. 1.
"iPad Air combines with Sprint's powerful 4G LTE network and our aggressively priced rate plans to bring customers an outstanding tablet experience," said Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO. "Sprint currently provides 4G LTE in 185 markets and we expect to extend that to more than 200 million people by the end of the year. With tablet plans starting at just $5 per month, our customers will appreciate the exciting features available on this new device beginning on November 1."
Sprint has also announced that it will offer the iPad mini with Retina Display Wi-Fi + Cellular later in November, when Apple releases the 7.9-inch tablet.
Sprint will offer the iPad Air in a choice of Silver and Space Gray in four storage capacities: 16GB for $649, 32GB for $729, 64GB for $829, and 128GB for $929.
