These YouTube Videos Show How Kids Saved Themselves From Potential Kidnappers

Every parent's worst nightmare is losing a child to kidnappers and, unfortunately, this has become a reality for one too many parents here in the United States. There have been instances, however, where parents have been able to sigh or even in cry in relief because no harm befell on their children, and they were able to come home.

How? Because the children saved themselves from further harm.

Many instances of children's bravey, composure, and wisdom during kidnapping attempts have been caught on camera. Here are some examples that have been shared on YouTube.

'Act Like You're My Mom'

A 10-year-old boy from Pottstown, Philadelphia saved himself from a potential kidnapping attempt in November 2022 thanks to a lot of street smarts and the help of a 17-year-old store clerk.

The young boy was simply walking home when a woman approached him and tried to lure him away. Sensing danger, the boy entered a store he was familiar with and approached the clerk behind the desk, whispering "Act like you're my mom." The store clerk then went to the door of the store, which the woman was holding open, pulled it shut, and locked it.

Thanks to the quick thinking of the young boy and the teenage clerk, he was saved from further danger.

Baby Brother Saved by Eight-Year-Old Sister

Heroes often do no wear capes. At times, they come in the form of an eight-year-old girl. What differs this particular incident from the others on this list is that the eight-year-old girl did not save herself. Instead, she saved her baby brother from a kidnapper by screaming her lungs out and drawing attention to the man fleeing with her brother.

In 2015, a kdinapper tried to run away with a 22-month-old boy after taking him from a playground in Sprague, Washington where he was playing with his siblings. His sister rushed after them, followed by her ten-year-old older brother who was still holding on to the baby's stroller. The little girl was screaming, which allerted two nearby teens.

This caused the kidnapper to put the little boy down in panic before he escaped. The baby boy was not physically harmed from the incident.

'That's Not My Dad'

In October 2022, a police officer in Hillsborough County, Florida was flagged down by a father who said someone stole his truck. What made matters worse was that his two sons, ages four and eight at the time, were inside when the vehicle was stolen.

After locating the truck and demanding that the driver pull over, the officer demanded the him to get out of the truck, but he would not oblige. One of the boys then told the officer that the driver is definitely not his father. The driver, 37-year-old Kevin Smith, was immediately arrested, and the boys were safely returned to their father.
