Snapchat Revenue-Sharing Program Expansion Details

Snap mentioned in its recent announcement it is launching new programs and tools under its revenue-sharing program to help creators build "sustainable businesses and grow and engage with their audience across Snapchat Stories and Spotlight.

Firstly, the company mentioned that creators with at least 50,000 followers, 25 million monthly views, and at least 10 Stories posts per month might be eligible to join its Stories revenue-share program. This expansion could be the result of the increase in the total time Snapchat users spend watching content creators' Stories in the US - double, in fact, year over year.

According to Snap, it is also increasing the total rewards available to reward creators for making the top Spotlight Snaps, giving creators on its platform more incentives to post more and do well with their Stories.

An Engadget report mentioned that Snap is allegedly still reserving the right to greenlight individual users into the program, but the metrics give small-time creators a target to aim for, at least.

Snap's expansion of its revenue-sharing program and its addition of new tools for creators to use is the latest effort the company made to invite more creators to its platform.

The company's next recent effort was the introduction of mid-roll ads to Snapchat posts as a way for some of its Snap Stars to earn money from their stories in mid-Feb. 2022, per an earlier Snap post.

There are some that saw success with Snap's revenue-sharing program, like Hannah Stocking, who made $30,000 in over 72 hours by exclusively posting content to Snap, per a Fortune article.

"I never really knew Snapchat could be lucrative," says Stocking, who was previously a Vine comedian and now has a significant following on various social media platforms apart from Snapchat, like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
