Opera Releases Redesigned Browser’s Early Access Version

Opera is now giving a free taste of its new, redesigned browser to the public.

The popular web browser developer recently announced it had unveiled an early access version of its new Opera One web browser with generative AI features and other new "innovative" features.

Opera plans to replace its web browser with Opera One sometime in 2023, though it hasn't given a definite release date as of press time.

Opera mentioned in its announcement that it had released an early access version of its upcoming Opera One web browser, which the company based on Modular Design to bring users a "liquid navigation experience" and a new way to interact with their browser.

These features were made possible thanks to Opera's new Multithreaded Compositor, which the company was the first among its contemporaries to introduce. The compositor thread delivers a faster and smoother user interface layer enabling high-performance graphics operations without being interrupted by other processes.

When paired with Modular Design, this new architecture allows the company to use new features that differentiate ours from other Chromium-based browsers, such as Tab Islands.

Despite the browser being in early access, Opera mentioned that it would still adapt to its user's needs, such as bringing only key features and relevant modules to the foreground whenever and wherever its user needs it. The company also added a multithreaded compositor that brings UI to life, which powers new features like Tab Islands.

Despite the browser being in early access, Opera mentioned that it would still adapt to its user's needs, such as bringing only key features and relevant modules to the foreground whenever and wherever its user needs it. The company also added a multithreaded compositor that brings UI to life, which powers new features like Tab Islands.

Tab Islands is a new feature Opera added to its Opera One browser, which gives users a "smooth and intuitive experience" that helps them stay on task without forcing them to change their habits. This feature accomplishes this by automatically and intuitively grouping websites people open based on their content, per Engadget

For example, it will open all pages with menus and restaurant details on one island, while it does the same with Google Docs on another. This feature is expected to reduce confusion and make jumping between tasks easier, whether it's for work or something personal.

Opera One users who wish to use Tab Islands on the early access version can do so by pressing the CTRL/Command button, clicking on the tabs to be grouped, and then right-clicking to create a Tab Island. People interested in trying out Opera One's early access version can download it at Opera's official website.

Opera One Generative AI capabilities

Aside from its Modular Design and Multithreaded Compositor, Opera One also has generative AI features, which will be available on its full release.

These generative AI features include AI Prompts and sidebar access to ChatGPT and ChatSonic. Interestingly, the addition of these AI-powered features follows the company's intention to add AI-generated content to its current Opera browser for PC and mobile versions to further augment users' browsing experience.

Among these features is a new ChatGPT-powered "Shorten" button in the address bar to generate short summaries of any webpage or article, allowing people to read a condensed version of the article or webpage of their choice.
