Scenarios Where Robots Take Over Human Jobs

More and more signs of AI or robots replacing humans in certain occupations are emerging, and it's quite possible that a great number of jobs would be affected by it in the near future. Setting the ethical implications for now, here are scenarios in which robots replace humans in their jobs.

There are existing technologies where AI is used to determine the illness of a person based on their symptoms, and artificial intelligence is able to scan through countless data to present the best treatment plan for the patient.

There have also been surgical robots that are able to do simple procedures. Of course, most of them still require human supervision and control, but we're not far off from fully autonomous robots that can do an entire surgery without human assistance.

Still, medical matters may be far too complex without the input of humans. In surgery, there are instances when unforeseen complications arise. There are many ways a surgery can go wrong, and it's almost impossible to program a robot to assess and resolve all of them.

War is always tragic, and many lives go to waste to settle disputes. What if robots replace people in the military? Well, there are a lot of ways that can be better, with sparing soldiers' lives being at the top of that list.

Robots also lack the need for medical care, sustenance, and rest, so as long as the machine has a power source, it can just keep on going. Since it can be created with sturdier metals, it can also withstand various attacks from bombs or bullets.

However, it's not really wise to place unfeeling machines when it comes to matters of life and death. One of the unfortunate aspects of war is civilian casualties. While humans can decide to stop an attack when civilians are around, a robot may just identify them as hostiles.

Drivers

Self-driving cars exist now, although they are still under development. Based on the progress, it's easy to see how we will no longer have to drive for ourselves decades from now. Once autonomous cars become more prominent, road systems will be set in place.

These systems include tracks as well as traffic rules that will be followed. Without the factor of human stubbornness on the road, traffic might actually be reduced since the autonomy of cars will just follow systems smoothly.

Of course, even programs are not perfect. Autonomous cars can still be subjected to errors and malfunctions. If a car spontaneously stops working in the middle of the road, it could lead to a domino effect of car crashes which would obviously be a bad thing.

Construction poses a lot of hazards for its workers. Since they are working with heavy machinery and materials, extreme or fatal accidents can happen such as falling from a height or being hit by a huge block of concrete.

With robots, heavy lifting wouldn't be so strenuous since they will be built in a certain capacity. It would also be cheaper for companies since they won't have to provide salaries for the robots. It's cruel, but it's a reality that has been evident even in current situations.

We have already seen what generative AI is capable of, so it's not impossible that a robot can be programmed to create designs through specific text prompts while applying architectural principles. It may even be able to draw up a floor plan in a matter of seconds.

It can also be trained through photos of various architectural designs, which can then be applied to sketches based on a person's suggestions. If it was created as an actual AI model rather than a robot, basically anyone can draw up house plans with it.
