5 Tech Gadgets to Repel Insects This Coming Summer

Warmer months are coming. Aside from buying gear for summer trips, you might want to invest in devices that will repel unwanted creatures like insects and pests. You won't have to do much. All you have to do is set up these gadgets.

1. Ultrasonic Pest Repellent

Insects tend to be small, so it would be easy for them through the smallest cracks and enter your home. Once they do, it's not easy to get rid of them, which can be solved through an ultrasonic pest repellent. All you have to do is plug it into an outlet.

It takes one to four weeks before the pests are gone, it's advisable to use it before the pesky insects show up. It emits a sound that can only be heard by insects, so your family and pets are safe from it. It covers an area of up to 1,200 square feet.

2. Rechargeable Mosquito Repellent

It's not always that you have access to an outlet, and you usually don't especially when you're in situations that expose you to more insects like camping or fishing trips. Having a rechargeable repellent will come in handy when you decide to do activities outdoors.

The Thermacell Mosquito Repellent, as suggested by Wirecutter, can protect you from mosquitoes within a 20-foot radius. It can last up to nine hours when you fully charge it. It uses repellent refills, but it claims to have no smoke or strong smells like citronella.

3. Bug Zapper

Before the insects make their way inside your home, you might want to add measures that would get rid of them outdoors as well. One effective method would be electrocuting them using a bug zapper, which you can place on your porch or patio.

It emits ultraviolet light, which attracts various insect species like mosquitoes, fruit flies, gnats, moths, and other small flying insects. You can hang it, but it's also safe to place it on the ground as the grid will protect you and your pets from being zapped by the device.

4. Indoor Insect Trap

This also functions just like the bug zapper, although it won't have that startling zapping sound every time an insect decides to go into the light, literally. All it does is lure the bug using the UV light, and the fan would suck the insects under the device which has sticky glue boards.

The Katchy Indoor Insect Trap, as suggested by Family Handy Man, is small enough to be conveniently placed anywhere like your dining table or living room shelves. It's important to note that it won't work on house flies, but it does trap fruit flies, gnats, and mosquitoes.

5. Electric Swatter

If you don't want to rely on devices that stay in place and want to go after the insects yourself, you can buy yourself a racket that would zap the little pests. It's kind of like playing badminton, but instead of a shuttlecock, you'll be swatting flies and mosquitos.

Don't worry about being zapped yourself or hitting someone else. It has a layer of safety net that will protect you from being electrocuted. It's also rechargeable to provide you with the freedom of walking around and looking for insects to zap.
