Verizon Moto X now available for free

Verizon has officially cut the price of the Moto X to $49.99 and if you use a coupon code it will knock the price down to $0.

When Motorola officially announced the Moto X, the smartphone brought along some cool and useful functions as a way to set itself apart from the sea of Android smartphones currently available on the market. Motorola and Google worked on the handset together and made the Moto X contextually aware, allowing it to perform functions issued by your voice, even if the smartphone was sleeping or not in your hands. All you have to say is "ok, Google Now" followed by a command and the Moto X wakes itself and does what is asked.

You can check the weather, send texts, play music, and more. The Moto X is smart enough to learn your voice, so you won't have to worry about it taking commands from others. Motorola also ships the Moto X with a 10-megapixel camera that can also be launched without you having to unlock the device and open the camera app - simply flick your wrist while holding the handset and it automatically wakes and opens the camera app. Those are just two of the many unique features Motorola has packed into the Moto X.

Just in time for the holiday season, Verizon has cut the price of the Moto X and is now offering the smartphone for $49.99 when signing a new 2-year contract, but if you use a new coupon code, the smartphone will be free.

As previously mentioned, the Verizon Moto X learns your voice and won't accidentally let others issue commands to play a joke on you; it uses a natural language processor and contextual computing processor to really learn your voice and your voice only. The Verizon Moto X features a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED HD display and is powered by a custom dual-core 1.7Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with Motorola's X8 Computing System and an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU). The smartphone ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and is expected to receive an update to Android 4.3 or even Android 4.4 in the near future. The handset includes 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM.

It is packing a 10-megapixel rear camera with the ability to record 1080p video and also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. When it comes to connectivity, the Moto X includes a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. Motorola has included a 2,200 mAh battery that can get up to 13 hours of talk time.

You can order the Verizon Moto X for $49.99 through the carrier's online store. Enter coupon code "VZWDEAL" at checkout and the final cost will be $0 when signing a new 2-year contract.
