Marvel Studios to Release a Stan Lee Documentary on Disney+

Marvel has greatly influenced pop culture, spawning several hit movies and TV shows. Of course, none of it would have been possible without the comics that created a huge fanbase. As a tribute, Marvel Studios is releasing a documentary about the man that led Marvel Comics to glory.

Stan Lee's Documentary

Marvel Studios just released a trailer that announces an official documentary for the creator of several iconic Marvel characters and stories. The film will start at the beginning of Stan "The Man" Lee's life during his "challenging upbringing."

Just as it was with Lee's life, the documentary will progress to the story of how the comic book industry legend rose from being Stanley Lieber to who he became. The documentary will be narrated by "The Man" himself, according to The Walt Disney Company.

The film will be a compilation of archival materials featuring Stan Lee such as personal home videos, interviews, and audio recordings, and more. Like the stories of the characters that he created, the documentary will tell his origin.

The Stan Lee documentary will also get into detail about his philosophy in life and the impression that he left on pop culture. It will be directed and produced by Supper Club's David Gelb, align with other producers such as Supper Club's Jason Sterman and Brian McGinn.

It is first shown in its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, but it will soon be available to watch on Disney+ this Friday, June 16th. The documentary will be exclusive to Disney's streaming service.

Stan the Man

Stan Lee was one of the most active contributors as a creator and even participated in several cameos in Marvel Studios titles. Born Stanley Martin Lieber, he appeared in the more recent Marvel movies as the Watcher Informant, as mentioned in the MCU Fandom.

With his bubbly personality, it was easy for fans to love and look up to him, which is why the entire fanbase was devastated when he passed away back in November 2018. Still, he was kept alive by the influential work he left behind.

The creator was behind many Marvel characters that the world could recognize today such as Spider-Man, Hulk, and Iron Man. As we know, this led to several movies being created that brought adventures into the big and small screen.

Born to Celia and Jack Lieber who were immigrants from Romania, the comic book industry legend loved reading stories about heroes. Amazingly, the young Stanley kept his love for stories even as his family struggled during the Great Depression.

They moved to a new place and life went on for Stanley. He graduated high school at 16 and was hired as an office assistant at Timely Comic, as mentioned in National Today. That company eventually became what we know now as Marvel Comics.

From an office assistant, he worked hard and made it as the company's interim editor. As DC was starting to gain traction, Stan Lee's publisher asked him to create a new superhero team, which led him and Jack Kirby to come up with the "Fantastic Four."
