ChatGPT Alternative WormGPT May Assist Cybercriminals

WormGPT is a new chatbot created by a hacker designed to assist cybercriminals in illegal activities. 

The chatbot is now dubbed as "malicious ChatGPT" due to its nature to launch business email compromise attacks. 

"We see that malicious actors are now creating their own custom modules similar to ChatGPT, but easier to use for nefarious purposes," SlashNext wrote in a blog post

"Not only are they creating these custom modules, but they are also advertising them to fellow bad actors," the post added.

What is WormGPT? 

The team of SlashNext was able to gain access to the WormGPT through a prominent online forum associated with cybercrime. 

According to the report, WormGPT is an AI module based on GPTJ language model that was developed in 2021. It has an unlimited character support, chat memory retention, and code formatting capabilities. 

The chatbot specializes on wide array of data sources mainly on malware-related data, phishing emails, and orchestrate various cyber attacks. 

The developer sells WormGPT service for 60 euros per month or 550 euros annually. 

WormGPT Threatens Cybersecurity 

The malicious chatbot mainly targets organizations and specializes in business email compromise, which is a type of phishing attack that aims to steal money and information. 

Accessing WormGPT is not legal and engaging with WormGPT can result in legal consequences. 

Security sites are now reminding to take precautionary measures and to tighten cybersecurity
