Netflix Invests in Video Games To Boost Slowing Growth

Netflix released its latest graphic adventure game called OXENFREE II: Lost Signals

The game was developed by Night School Studio and will be available to Netflix's mobile app, Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. 

In addition, Netflix also bought three additional existing studios outright. The streaming giant now boasts 67 games in the Netflix library, that is playable through iOS and Android Apps. 

Reports from The Ringer also revealed that 86 games are currently in development, with 16 of those being developed by in-house studios.

Welcome to OXENFREE II: Lost Signals 

OXENFREE II: Lost Signals follows the story of two characters in the Oregon coastal town of Camena where strange events are unveiling. 

The game was first introduced during Nintendo Indie World Showcase last 2021 and was delayed for two years. 

On July 12, the game officially became exclusively available through Netflix subscriptions, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows. 

The game currently supports 32 languages and has received "generally favorable" reviews on Metacritic

Netflix Experiences Slowing Growth 

According to Stock Analysis, Netflix company growth has slowed "tremendously" on the past years, resulting to the company's move to venture on video games. 

The company recorded a 6.46 percent growth with $31.62 billion in revenue last 2022. 

It will take years to see if Netflix's new venture will succeed in the market, specially with targeting younger audience.
