PlayStation 5's Latest Update Improves System Storage

Sony rolled out its PlayStation 5 (PS5) system beta update featuring new accessibility features, new audio options, console and connectivity tips, and of course, improved support for larger capacity storage. 

The beta access is only limited to invited participants on selected countries such as United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, and France. 

Despite of the limited access to these new updates, Sony assured that they are preparing to release the update globally later this year. However, the company also reminded that not all beta features might make it to the final version.

PS5 Larger-Capacity Support 

Hardcore PlayStation gamers know the struggle of playing under limited storage. The current version of PS5 has a 4TB storage limit, and while it can be an enough support already, some just wanted more. 

The beta version is allowing an M.2 SSD with a maximum capacity of 8TB, expanding the storage space on the PS5 console. 

M.2 SSD devices must adhere to PlayStation's requirements. Using an M.2 SSD to a PS5 console will enhance and increase the storage capacity of the console. 

PS5 Beta Features 

Aside from enhanced support for bigger storage capacity, PS5 is now allowing 3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D AuditoTech that can be enjoyed on Dolby Atmos-enabled HDMI devices. 

In addition, some social feature enhancements such as Party UI update, share screen preview, and game hub tournaments tile were also added in the beta. 

A controller feature now allows a second controller as an assistant controller. Sony explained that the feature was made to enhance collaborative gaming.
