WhatsApp Voice Chats

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is planning to offer a "new way to initiate voice calls." Based on the sample, a voice waveform icon will appear to compatible groups, this will signify that the feature is available to use.

Anyone from the group chat can join the voice chat and start speaking. However, if the chat has no participants for 60 minutes, the chat will automatically end. A new voice chat can be started any time you want.

Although any member of the group can join the voice chat, WhatsApp noted that the voice chats can only hold up to 32 participants. This can be a problem for holding large audio meeting. However, the capacity limit is still enough for most users.

Advantages of WhatsApp Voice Chats

WhatsApp boasted that the key feature of voice chat is that it does not interrupt any activity for the chat members. The chat can be initiated without the annoying ringing of the phone which bothers most people specially if they do not intend to join the discussion.

On the other hand, every participant will still get a notification but only a silent push with an icon signaling that the group is actively doing a voice chat. Moreover, these chats are protected by end-to-end encryption that will ensure privacy and security among its participants.
