Zoom Lifts Remote Working, Asks Employees to Work Onsite Twice a Week

Zoom is ending its employees' remote working as it announced that employees within 50 miles of the Zoom office must work there at least two days a week. 

"We believe that a structured hybrid approach - meaning employees that live near an office need to be onsite two days a week to interact with their teams - is most effective for Zoom," company spokesperson explained.

Zoom Turns to Hybrid Working 

While it is true that most of the companies have started to required employees to do onsite work, the news still comes a surprise as Zoom is responsible for making remote working possible for many people during the pandemic up until today. 

According to CBS, this new company policy will greatly affect over 7,400 Zoom employees. The report also stated that it will be implemented some time in August and September forcing these employees to work at the office twice a week. 

In Zoom's defense, the company acknowledged the power of video conferencing and its efficiency through the years making it possible to do work at the comfort of our home. However, the company is firm that in-person communication remains the best way to work. 

Zoom Updates Terms of Service

Aside from the new working policy, the company also made changes on it Terms of Service after it mounted complaints from users due to privacy issues. 

As a response, Zoom assured its users that the app will no longer use customer audio, video, and chat data in developing its AI related products, tools, and systems in the future.
