Safety Issues with Tesla

According to Reuters, the US auto safety regulator has conducted around 36 special crash investigations against Tesla since 2016. All of these cases involved the autopilot system of the car. As of writing, there has been 23 crash deaths reported.

Tesla's autopilot feature is intended to help in steering, accelerating, and brake cars automatically. In addition, an enhanced autopilot puts it in charge of changing lanes on highways.

In June 2022, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) upgraded its defect probe wherein it conducted an engineering analysis of 830,000 Tesla vehicles with autopilot and crashes with parked emergency vehicles.

Tesla's Other Issues

This is not the first time Tesla's vehicle credibility has been questioned. Last July, Tesla was reportedly overestimating the range of its electronic vehicles which goes against the advertised 353 miles on a fully charged battery.

On the other hand, a Diversion Team set in Las Vegas was created to force Tesla drivers to "cancel as many range-related appointments as possible." The team is proven to be effective as the company saves around $1,000 for every canceled appointment.

Tesla is yet to issue a response on the alegations against the company.
