Amazon officially added AI-generated review summaries in an effort to help consumers in deciding which product to buy on the platform.

How Does Amazon AI-Generated Review Summaries Work
Amazon has been experimenting on making reviews more efficient for years. In 2019, the company enabled a quick star rating feature which allowed customers to leave feedback without having to write a text review.
The idea behind AI-generated reviews stemmed from Amazon's priority to make it easier for customers to see common themes across hundreds of reviews in a product.
According to Amazon, the new AI feature will provide a short paragraph on the product detail page. The summary will include product features and a collective customer sentiment based on written reviews. In addition, a key product insights like "ease of use", "performance", and other product attributes can be tapped to see written review explaining that.
Amazon's Plans with Fake Reviews
Despite of continuously innovating consumer experience, Amazon have a reputation for having fake reviews on their platforms.
In a latest update, Amazon filed two lawsuits against fraudsters. The company have also "proactively blocked over 200 million suspected fake reviews" in 2022.
Amazon assured that the company will continue its aggressive fight against fake review brokers and will take legal actions against fraudsters to protect their customers and selling partners.
