5 YouTube Channels That Focus on Making Cosplay Props, Costumes

YouTube is not just a streaming site for entertainment. It is also the place for countless tutorials for various activities like construction, cooking, baking, crafting, and many more. For people who want to create props or costumes, there are a lot of good YouTube Channels that can help with the process, and here are a few.

1. JLaser Video

When you're just starting out and have little to no experience with tools and crafting itself, JLaser videos provide you with tutorials that use supplies that are easy to come by. The YouTuber who goes by Jake Laser has a way of using everyday materials to create his props.

For instance, he tried making T'Challa's Black Panther gloves with functional retractable claws. Some of the materials he used are clickable pens, X-Acto blades, threads, and a fingerless paintball glove. Other than the gloves, the materials are fairly easy to obtain.

2. Odin Makes

The craftsman behind the channel is Odin Abbott, and he is an experienced prop maker. He does tutorials for interesting items that you might find in famous franchises like Star Wars and Marvel. They are easy to make if you follow the steps and have the right tools and materials.

He creates replicas of props like Jinx's gun, Kratos' axe Leviathan, Thanos' glove, and so much more. He uses tools such as a Dremel for shaping foam or a wood burner to draw patterns, but these can easily be substituted if you don't have them.

3. Hacksmith Industries

Hacksmith Industries create the most amazing props you can make, so you can expect it to be more complicated to replicate. They use industrial-grade tools, which is why you might find it hard to produce an outcome that's as good as theirs.

One of the best things they've created is a real-life functioning lightsaber that can burn for 4000°. They use a lot of materials that might be hard to find and can cost a lot, and they are professionals as well so they know the proper safety measures for dangerous projects.

4. KamuiCosplay

If you're looking for tutorials for cosplays specifically, KamuiCosplay is your best bet. She creates the most accurate replica of weapons and costumes, but she does use various methods that are hard to do even for experienced people.

One of the costumes they've done is one of Aloy's outfits from Horizon Zero Dawn. Their skill sets include sewing, sculpting, wiring, 3D printing, and more, all of which they have been mastering for years. With a bit of research and practice, you will likely be able to do it as well.

5. NerdForge

The channel is hosted by the couple Martina and Hansi, both of which contribute to the final outputs of the videos. They mostly create dioramas and small to medium-scale buildings from crafting materials, but they make costumes and props every now and then.

For example, Martina has made wearable armor out of leather, foam, and other materials. She also uses her skill in sewing and painting textures to make them look like actual metal. They use laser cutting and 3D printing sometimes, but the components can also be created manually.
