Activision Confirms Lara Croft’s Appearance for Modern Warfare II

Video game icon Lara Craft is coming to the Call of Duty series.

The Tomb Raider herself has taken time off of her titular activity to become an operator in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (MWII), giving players the chance to play as her in the field.

Lara Croft is one of three operators coming to MWII in the game's fifth season, which will become available on Aug. 30 across all gaming platforms.

Prepare to Get Your Tomb Raided

Activision mentioned in its announcement that Lara Croft, along with popular rapper 21 Savage and Shadow Company's Mace, would appear in MWII as part of the game's fifth season.

Lara's appearance takes inspiration from her classic 90s outfit and 2000s aesthetics, with her wearing her signature light green blue shirt, gloves, and backpack.

Lara's appearance in MWII seems to blend the sex appeal she exuded in the 90s and the gritty realism her modern look brings, keeping her appearance faithful to the vision Square Enix developers have for its reboot of the character and franchise, per Games Radar.

While her appearance takes more from her classic look the inclusion of a jade necklace around her neck gives a nod to her 2013 Square Enix reboot look, per Gameranx. Unfortunately, Activision didn't provide a full view of Lara's outfit, leaving gamers to speculate if she's wearing her classic shorts or her reboot version's long pants.

What Activision did provide, though, is information about her character bundle. Lara's bundle, which becomes available on Sept. 9, includes three weapon blueprints: a version of the new melee weapon in the "Ice Axe," the "Mythic Defender" SMG, and her signature "Mach-5" dual pistols, which are based on the new sidearm coming with the Reloaded update.

The Ice Axe is a nod to the item Lara obtains in the reboot Tomb Raider games, particularly Rise of the Tomb Raider. Unfortunately, there aren't any clues as to what Lara's Mythic Defender SMGis is referencing, but it could be a regular weapon to balance her bundle out for the sake of gameplay.

The bundle also comes with the "Tomb Buggy" vehicle skin for the Chop Top, a loading screen, a sticker, and an emblem.

Other Call Of Duty Season 5 Offerings

Aside from Lara, 21 Savage, and Mace's appearance in MWII, players can expect a new multiplayer map, a new Resurgence experience, several events, and additional DMZ missions.

The new map Activision added, The Visitor Center, focuses on fast-paced combat thanks to its several shortcuts and flanking routes great for taking enemies by surprise. Unfortunately, the game developer didn't reveal much about the map, but it will give more prior to Season 5's arrival.

Activision also stated that all weapons from MWII will carry over to and usable on day one in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (MWIII). However, players must unlock create-a-class in the latter game first before they can access their MWII weapons in-game.

Additionally, completion camos, rewards, mastery emblems, charms, and other player-earned items carry forward to MWIII, though MWII camos only apply to MWII weapons.
