PlayStation Plus Price Increase

The price hike for Sony's subscription service won't take effect until next month, which means that subscribers who are due this month will still be paying the current annual charge. However, changing subscription tiers even before the date of inrease takes place will cost you the new rate.

The changes will take effect this November 6th, 2023. The changes that will trigger the new prices early include upgrading or downgrading your subscription plan, as well as purchasing additional time, so you might want to wait until your next due date.

The PlayStation Plus Essential plan will soon cost $80 a year, which is an increase from $60. The Extra plan will go from $100 to $135. PlayStation Plus Premium is getting the biggest increase of them all, going from $120 to $160, as reported by The Verge.

The price hike is rolling out in all eligible countries at the same time. Sony stated that the increase in subscription fees will let the company "continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits" to PlayStation Plus.

What Do You Get from PlayStation Plus?

In case you're new to the subscription services, you might now know what you'll be getting for paying the monthly, tri-monthly, or annual fee. Sony offers different perks to each tier. The more expensive tiers will give you more benefits, as per usual.

PlayStation Plus Essential will give you all the core benefits from the service. For one, you can join other subscribers in online multiplayer games. It allows you to add new games to your collection every month, as well as get discounts from the PlayStation store.

You'll also be getting Share Play, where your game screen appears on a visitor's screen and they get to play as you. You'll also be getting cloud storage for your game data, Game Help, as well as exclusive content from Sony.

PlayStation Plus Extra offers the same benefits as the Essential plan, including a few additional perks such as access to the Game Catalog, which features hundreds of games from game hits to indies, which are all renewed regularly, along with Ubisoft+ Classics.

The PlayStation Plus Premium is the best deal you can get. You'll be getting the core benefits as well such as cloud storage, exclusive discounts, access to the Game Catalog, exclusive content, Game Help, Share Play, cloud storage, online multiplayer, and more.

In addition to that, you'll have access to game trials, which allows you to try out games for a limited time before having to buy them. You can also stream your games through the cloud, which is helpful for content creators who stream their games.

Any PlayStation Plus will let you earn PlayStation Plus Stars every time you purchase eligible titles in the PlayStation Store. These points can be redeemed for your PlayStation wallet funds, which you can use for various digital purchases in the PS Store.
