Forever 21 Data Breach Leaves Over 500,000 People Affected

Clothing giant Forever 21 suffered from a data breach early this year with an estimated of 500,000 individuals affected.

What Happened to Forever 21? 

The company was reportedly hacked for three months starting from early January. The hackers were able to gather files from the system which includes personal information of current and former employees, as per TechCrunch's report.

Forever 21 already notified the 539, 207 individuals whose personal information was compromised. Among the details obtained were names, date of birth, bank account number, Social Security number, Forever 21 health plan of employees, and premiums paid. 

The data breach marked as the second incident to the company within a few years. In 2017, the company suffered from a massive theft of credit numbers from its store point-of-sale machines. 

Forever 21 Explains

Forever 21 reported that they have already taken the necessary measures and ensured that the hackers have deleted the stolen data. However, not much of it was further explained by the company. 

The company then assured that the incident did not escalate further than the breach of systems. Forever 21 also clarified that the "unauthorized third party no longer has access to the data."
