5 Live-Action Anime Adaptations on Netflix Perfect for Otaku

Japanese animations, or animes, that gained massive success and international fans are often rewarded by getting live-action shows. Fans often gets excited to spot and compare the storyline from the original manga and anime to the live-action. 

Here are some of live-action animes that are praised for sticking to its original material:

'One Piece' (2023)

"One Piece" is based on the manga series by Eiichiro Oda. The original manga series has been ongoing for 26 years making it one of the biggest manga and anime ever created. 

While the animated series is on its 1,075th already, the live-action was only presented in eight episodes. Regardless, most of the fans have enjoyed the show follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirate's adventure on the sea. 

'Death Note' (2015)

"Death Note" is based on the manga series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The manga series was then adapted into a 37-episode anime from 2003 to 2006. 

The story focuses on Light Yagami after he discover a black notebook called the Death Note. Intrigued with the powers brought by the notebook, Light took advantage of its power which resulted to him being hunted by a renowned detective, L. 

'Alice in Borderland' (2020-2022)

"Alice in Borderland" is based on the manga series by Haro Aso. The original manga series ran for half a decade from 2010 to 2016. 

Set in an abandoned Tokyo, each gamers were forced to play and survive each games. The series became a hit during its release in the pandemic and has managed to create a buzz due to its compelling storyline and plot twists. 

'From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke' (2023)

"From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke" is based on the manga by Karuho Shiina. The slice of life and coming-of-age story became a popular scene during its run from 2007 to 2015. 

All her life, Sawako has been having a hard time fitting in. Most of the time, people are scared of her and she was dubbed as Sadako. However, as the story progresses she will finally be able to meet new friends and will also establish a romantic relationship. 

'The Ingenuity of the Househusband' (2021)

"The Ingenuity of the Househusband" is based on the manga series by Kousuke Oono. Although the manga series is still ongoing since 2018, the storyline caught the attention of Netflix for a live-adaptation. 

The story follows the life of a retired yakuza boss who was feared and famous back then. The series were split into small bits of comedic scenes which makes it a perfect past time for some.
